Colored Perception

It is amazing how experiences color perception. There are two companies that carry a trusted brand name, but a couple years ago, we had bad customer service with both of them. Now on numerous occasions, they had done the right thing. But this ONE time they didn't, and that ONE time colored everything. I wonder how many people we don't get second chances with? How many people have ONE bad experience at church and it ends up coloring their entire perspective? It may not be fair, but it is true. The fact that I may never walk into either of those companies again doesn't have eternal consequences but when people give up on the Church it could. This week, as you go about your normal routine in your usual environment, take time to ask, "what am I doing to make sure the experience I'm offering is getting colored with the best perception?"

Great word Pastor Troy. It's disappointing to see the perception of most unchurched people in our town is less than favorable. A lot of the first time guessed are extremely surprised by the friendly greeters, hospitality, and welcoming energy at our campus. I would hope that people associate kindness with the church, but since that's not always the case, I agree we have to work extra hard to give them best perception of the hope we have.

i know nathan means 'guests', but 'guessed' brings forth a whole line of thought, doesn't it? We don't know them..we are guessing when we greet them.

I know that when I first walked in FRC I was greeted very kindly. I was praying for a home church because it was time for change. FRC has made me and my family feel so comfortable from the first visit. That first impression and first perception of the visit made us want to return. It is alittle scary to realize if the perception is not warm to the soul it can keep someone away and it is sad that it will keep someone from attending again. Praise God for the wonderful souls that attend FRC and the warm welcoming feeling you get as you approach the doors.

you dont know how that just hit the nail on the head for me. I went to FRC on Creighton rd in Pensacola today and fell in love with this church. I found FRC on facebook and just wrote a short novel on my experience and a little background. In that message i had just talked about how I compared all the churches i tried around pensacola to the contemporary church i was used to in ATL. After six years of searching i found a church that fits me. Those words could not be more true. I became discouraged by trying to find one right for me that the sermons i listened to and the songs of praise did not have the full effect on me as they should. I wish i could take those years back and found this church sooner but today my relationship with christ turned in the right direction again and im glad god told me to try just one more. I LOVE FRC and will be a member!!!
