The Fish Bowl

A few years ago we did a series called, www.MyNakedPastor.com.  For 6 weeks and 24 hours a day, cameras followed our family at home and on the go.  We did it to raise the value of authenticity and during that time we learned a lot about life in a fishbowl.  The truth is, we all live in a fish bowl. The moment you do something with your life and run after your destiny, it is like diving into the fish bowl.  And people will either model their life after yours (if you experience success) or they will tear you down to make themselves feel better about their lack of drive toward destiny.

Here are a few things I learned in those 6 weeks:

·      Focus more on WHO you are on the inside than on who people perceive you to be on the outside.
·      Who you are on the inside is priority; but if you don’t spend some time on your outside, you'll have hurdles to overcome in becoming who God created you to be.
·      There are 3 groups who watch the fish bowl:  1) those who are inspired by your life 2) those who are threatened by your life 3) those who are bored with their life
·      You can complain about the fish bowl or leverage it to make a positive difference in the world.
·      There is NO place to hide in the fish bowl and life begins when you STOP looking for a place to hide and START being who God created you to be.
·      There are some who will criticize everything you do and there are others who will jump into the bowl with you and help.

Life in a fish bowl is nothing new.  Paul challenged us to follow him as he followed Christ.  Instead of running from the fishbowl, let's embrace it!
